Tow Law Coors Cup
The odds were stacked heavily against Cornsay Royal Oak in the Final, where they played Tow Law New Market A in the combined darts and dominoes competition. The Market had already won the darts league and finished runners-up in the dominoes league, whilst Oak had finished in the bottom four in both leagues. To make matters worse Cornsay lost the toss for the home venue, but despite everything the underdogs came out victorious.
David Dixon beat Barry Bayles at darts to put the Market ahead but Chris Close beat Gary Parker at dominoes to level. Cornsay then took the next six points with Jeff Close beating Arthur Atkinson, Chris Close beating Andy Elston and Robbie Young beating Kenneth Atkinson at darts, whilst Sonia Windsorr beat David Dixon, Jeff Close beat Kenneth Atkinson and Barry Bayles beat John Parkin at dominoes.
Robbie McFadden beat Ian Truby at darts to restore the Market's faith but Stan Witherspoon restored the visitors' five points lead by beating Bobby Gray at dominoes. Colin Armstrong took the next darts for the Market but Ian Truby beat Raymond Wright at dominoes to leave the Oak just one point short of victory.
The first darts doubles kept the Market alive when Arthur Atkinson and Robbie McFadden beat Barry Bayles and Stan Witherspoon but Cornsay clinched the Cup with a dominoes doubles win from Jeff Close and Stan Witherspoon
