Crook Individual League
A night of table clearances saw Darren Tinkler move up to third with a maximum win over Gerald Parkin in the only match, which lacked the complete clearance. In the first frame Parkin, who was not firing on all cylinders, was unlucky to let Tinkler in to take the point. In the second Parkin missed an easy black to the middle and virtually gifted the point to Tinkler, who completed the whitewash with a comfortable third frame.
The fireworks came when David Haygarth met Richard Walker, who only managed one shot in the first two frames when he broke in the first and Haygarth cleaned up, followed by Haygarth then cleaning up from the break in the second. Walker performed better in the third but slipped up to allow Haygarth to complete the whitewash.
Lee Cullinan broke against league leader, David Craggs and put down seven balls before going in-off the last one. This allowed Craggs to clean the table. Another in-off from Cullinan allowed Craggs to clear up again and he took the third after some tactical exchanges.
Walker took his chance of a clearance to go one up in his second match of the night when he played David Stephenson. However Stephenson recovered to take the next two for victory.
The matches on Monday at Crook Coach and Horses are: Stephen Heyes v Neil Campbell; Stuart Hall v Michael Burke; Lee Scott v Doug Bowey and Les Scott v David Stephenson.
County Super League
Spennymoor A moved one point clear at the top of the table after they only dropped three points to the visiting Durham, thanks to a fantastic start and finish. The Moors took the first five points through Sean Archer, Ronnie McAloon, Dave Bromley, Gavin Witton and Steve Hunter.
Durham took the remaining two frames of the first half through Dave Ferguson and Chris Beswick. Gavin Witton gave the Moors a good start to the second half but Dave Neill took the second frame for Durham, a point which proved to be their last as Steve Hunter, Sean Archer, Ronnie McAloon, Dave Elliott and Paul Biddle completed the win which takes Moors to the top by one point.
Crook B moved a point behind Spennymoor after they dropped four points at Ferryhill. Phil Cox and Simon Corbridge took two points for the home side in the first half, whilst Gerald Parkin, David Stephenson, David Craggs, Les Scott and Cliffy Owens moved Crook B ahead.
The home side only managed two more points in the second half through Steve Wray and Simon Corbirdge, whilst the visitors had wins from Gerald Parkin, David Stephenson, David Craggs, Lee Cullinan and Les Scott.
After four consecutive defeats Newton Aycliffe brought off a creditable draw against the visiting Shildon B, who moved up to third place in the table. The first half of the match was highlighted by a first Super League win for Natasha Mitchinson for the home side, who went on lead at the break by the odd point when they also had wins from Richie Bellwood, Sean Foxton and Paul Wade. The visitors had points from David Waites, Colin Bell and Ian Sanderson.
Hopes were high for a home victory when they reached the hill with second half wins from Steve Thompson, Sean Foxton and Paul Wade, whilst Jim Dinning, Jim Armstrong and David Waites replied. In the final frame Shildon B forced the draw when Ian Sanderson beat Paul Bowtell, who was making his debut for Newton Aycliffe.
Results: Ferryhill 4 Crook Town B 10; Newton Aycliffe 7 Shildon B 7; Spennymoor 11 Durham 3.
