Richmond Town: Richmond Under-8s travelled to Barnard Castle on a blustery Sunday morning.
The opening encounters were even with both teams finding it difficult. Towards the end of the half Dylan Wardale opened the scoring and he and Adam Cocks added to the tally before the break.
Barnard Castle, with the wind at their backs, had the better of the early part of the second half but some good defending and fine goalkeeping from Stephen Male in the Richmond goal managed to keep them out. Wardale and Cocks then both completed their hat-tricks for a fine 6-0 win.
Richmond Under-9s were at home to Barnard Castle. Barnard Castle put Richmond under pressure form the start. Richmond defended well. Richmond took the lead half way through the first half. Sam Devlin played the ball to James McNeil who raced forward squaring the ball to Sam Witty who scored.
Barnard Castle pressed in the second half for the equaliser which came after a shot was saved by Tim Holmes and the rebound was fired in by the opposition. The man of the match was Lewis Stabler for a good all-round performance.
Richmond Under-10s were at home to Bedale this week, In the first game the first half was quiet. It was after half time when Richmond started to really break down Bedale's defence. First Thomas Larder put away a cross from the left. Then Kevin Robinson scored from another cross. Nick Armstrong then got four goals, to of which were great strikes from distance. His great performance earned him man of the match. In the second match Richmond went out in a dominant fashion and just before half time Thomas Moore scored with a volley. Richmond went into half time 1-0 up and kept this lead until the last minute when Richmond were caught outnumbered at the back to finish the game 1-1. Norton and
Stockton Ancients
Norton Under-11s let a three-goal advantage slip in a wind affected game. Breckon opened the scoring against Billingham for Norton and then Turner and Robson added further goals to go 3-0 up at half-time. Norton kept Billingham out, defending well and breaking quickly until 15 minutes from the end when a Billingham forward broke through and scored. Billingham got a second, after hesitation in the Norton defence. Steel blazed over for Norton. Web put Sutcliffe clean through and Sutcliffe had a great effort rebound off the post before Billingham broke out and got a penalty with two minutes to go which they converted to end the game 3-3.
Norton Under-10 B had an entertaining goalless draw against Greatham B with both teams dealing well with a strong wind. Norton were against the wind in the first half and played some good football with David Roth, Josh Peaden and Lewis Wing linking up well with Daniel Chesser going close on two occasions. Norton's goalie, Jack Griffiths, pulled off two brave one-on-one saves. In the second half, Greatham pushed forward but Tom Blakemore and Liam Woodhouse defended well to keep their game all-square. Norton won the friendly 2-0 with two goals from Matthew Dixon.
Norton Under-12 produced the football that everyone at the club knows they are capable of against Ormesby who have had some good results. Norton played free-flowing football from the kick-off with goals coming from Jake Laverick (2), James Nicholson (2), Luke Johnston and James Gray. The back four were very strong, commanded by Warren Pearson. Final score was 6-0.
In the first half, Fishburn hit several long range wind-assisted shots which Norton Under-13 B keeper Josh Edon was equal to. Good work from Cook resulted in a blocked shot. McAvoy won the ball back and Cook made no mistake with his second chance. Norton gave away far too many free kicks for pushing, giving Fishburn opportunities to shoot. Cook then had a 30 yard free kick goal disallowed for movement in the Fishburn wall, but added a second soon after. McAvoy was unfortunate not to gain a penalty on half-time when two defenders seemed to take him down. In the second half, an own goal set Fishburn back further. McAvoy then skipped a tackle to be tripped in the box and the ref wasn't going to deny him twice. Up stepped Jamma Cronesberry, who was one of Norton's hardest workers on the day, to stick away the penalty for 4-0. Fishburn, to their credit, decided to go for it and really came at Norton, creating some half chances and one open goal which was blocked superbly on his goal line by Arran Stott. A pointless shove gave Fishburn a penalty and Ankers scored despite a good effort in goal by Edon. Great performances again from Iveson & Atkinson, a superb first half from Simmo, and a good first game from Matty Botwright.
Norton Under-10 A started the stronger against Stockton and after a lot of pressure were soon one goal up after some great play through Mathew Garbutt. Norton kept the pressure on, but were unable to add to their tally. Stockton came out in the second half a better side and equalised with a great header from Thacker. There was some good football from both sides, but both were unable to score and a deserved 1-1 draw was the outcome.
