Bishop Auckland are launching a new kit in time for their Durham Challenge Cup final against Billingham Town on Easter Monday.

Manager Brian Honour turned researcher to discover that the last time Bishops wore a white kit was in the Amateur Cup final against Wycombe in 1957.

Bishops had to change that day because Wycombe also played in two blues.

Honour said: "It's appropriate, because it will be almost 47 years to the day since the final."

Meanwhile, the Bishop Auckland Independent Supporters Club have launched a stadium fund. They said: "With the sale of Kingsway nearing completion, the path towards a new ground looks clearer."

"We have launched the Supporters Stadium Fund, with the full backing of the club's board of directors.

"The money raised through the scheme will be administered by ourselves until such time as construction of the ground is under way. We can guarantee that cash raised through the stadium fund will only be spent on the new ground."

The fund has got off to a good start with almost £100 raised in the first couple of days.

Bishops have played twice this week. They drew 0-0 at Leek and on Wednesday ended 1-1 at home to Chorley.

The two points gained put them in the top 13 and they've got more tough games ahead. After tomorrow's home game with Hyde they are at home to North Ferriby on Monday night.

Spennymoor had a result to forget at Worksop on Tuesday, losing 4-0, conceding two goals in each half. Meanwhile, Moors' supporters raised £1,300 towards club funds following their sponsored walk a fortnight ago.

Whitby Town have decided that they will accept promotion to the new Conference North at the end of the season, if they finish in the top 13.

Clubs who have been considering the new Conference North have been looking at the financial and logistics implications of possibly playing teams from as far afield as Worcester and Bedford, but have decided to continue with their plans for fear of being left behind by the new national system.
