A Hoggarth and Sons Eskvale and Cleveland League - Highland Laddie v Gt Ayton
either keeper was troubled for the first 30 minutes. Laddie were then awarded a free kick after a backpass to the Ayton keeper. Neesam took the kick, squared to Combellack who smashed the ball home. Leng worked hard in the Ayton midfield in an attempt to find the equaliser but the Laddie keeper remained untroubled. Dickinson and Lawther had chances to extend the lead but their shots were well saved. In the second half neither side created chances until the 65th minute as Dowson broke clear to slot home Laddies' second past a diving Ayton keeper. Ayton rallied and an unstoppable header from Ripley in the 80th minute set up a frantic last ten minutes. However Laddie's defence held firm.
Lingdale Utd v Stakesby Arms
Lingdale opened the scoring in the fifth minute when a Heads corner found Dowd who scored with a fine header. A minute later Hololob made it two with a well taken solo effort. Fifteen minutes later a clever corner from Iseton found Whitehed unmarked for him to head home from close range. Moments later Iseton's defence splitting pass found Evans who beat the keeper from five yards. A goal line header from Hodgson took the tally to 5-0 then in the closing minutes of the half Hololob netted his second. Lingdale's blistering pace continued in the second half as Heads scored before Sayers' powerful header from ten yards took the score to 8-0. However, the best goal of the game was from Stakesby, a cracking free kick from 20 yards that Headlam hit into the top corner. Lingdale completed the rout with two more from Iseton and a Dowd headed goal from a Welford free kick.
Lealholm v Black Swan
Lealholm had all the early play but failed to create chances until a 20th minute free kick from Whitwell curled towards goal to be headed in by Carruthers. Scott was playing well for the Swan but was contained by Hill, effectively stopping any chance on goal. Ten minutes before half time a long goal kick was headed on by Crooks into the path of Robinson for him to extend Lealholm's lead. Black Swan were unlucky not to get back into the game five minutes later after a goal mouth scramble but Lealholm held on the two-goal advantage. In the second half. Welham took a free kick which the Swan keeper saw late, although he made the save the rebound was tapped in by Brown. The Whitwell Carruthers combination continued to create chances for Lealholm but it wasn't until ten minutes before the end that they finally finished off the match with a shot from the edge of the box from Hill.
The Northern Echo Cup Semi
Mackinlay Park v Boosbeck Utd
Ten minutes in, a 30 yard free kick from Redcar's Richtor was heading for the top corner but Myers saved well. A major turning point was the dismissal of Boosbeck midfielder Crawford, however the game remained goalless at the break. In the 55th minute Boosbeck broke the deadlock against the run of play, Henwood in the Redcar goal passed across the box to Porritt who was robbed by Al-Dick for a tap-in. As ten-man Boosbeck tired, McGillicuddy latched on to a shot to equalise with ten minutes left. Porrit had a chance to win the game when he took a corner, hit the bar with his first attempt and with the rebound first struck the bar and then the post, taking the game into extra time. Redcar were making the extra man count and were then awarded a penalty, Johnson cooly slotting the ball home under intense pressure. This spurred the Redcar side, Myers again made a great save but Johnson was there to fire in the rebound and take the home side through to the final.
