Sunderland Catholic Club Over-40s League - Division One Consett, although still top, looked almost certain to finish in the runners-up spot.

They dropped two very valuable home points by only managing to draw 1-1 against Moor House and now have the way clear for Wardley Green who are two points behind but have two games in hand.

In Division two Wynyard Veterans did very well indeed, they defeated close rivals Spring Gardens 3-2 at home and now take over the leadership on goal difference from Gateshead Greencroft. Despite trailing 0-1 at half time, they fought back strongly after the restart. Alan Jackson equalised and shortly after netted again to give them 2-1 lead. Spring Gardens rallies and Griffiths scored his second of the game to make it 2-2. In the dying minutes Freddie Surplus saw his screw driver deflected into the net for an own goal to give Wynyard a home win.

In Division Three Crook Town's winning run continues as they defeated Boldon Black Bull 6-0 at home and are now the new Division Three leaders. They opened up with the lead when he shot home a cross from Nial and Trevor Howard made it 2-0 slamming home a centre from Francis Robinson. Paul Appleby made it 3-0 after the restart, then Steve Hodgson's header made it 4-0. A free kick from 25-yards by David Nial made it 5-0 and finally ex Tow Law player Geoff Hall scored on his debut to end the game 6-0 to Crook. West Cornforth were held at home to a 2-2 draw by Houghton Mill Inn.

In the Kenny Ball Cup second placed Premier side Ferryhill won 5-4 on penalties against Division One Hartlepool Catholic Club. Pools led 1-0 at the interval courtesy of a Micky Lewis goal. Ferryhill levelled after the restart and with no further score extra time was necessary and finally ended in a penalty shoot-out. Hero of the game was Ferryhill's keeper who dived the right way to save Costello's shot and win the game.

Newton Aycliffe were in tremendous form they won 5-1 at home to Darlington Railway. Lee Killit gave Aycliffe an early lead but Mark Lawrence levelled minutes later. Killit scored his second of the game to give Aycliffe a 2-1 lead shortly before half time. The restart saw Aycliffe gain control. Eddie Sharp made it 3-1 and Killit completed his hat trick to make it 4-1. Trevor Cooke made it 5-1 late on.

In the Premier Darlington Croft dropped three valuable points by losing 2-0 away to Penshaw. Goals from Philip Allen and Miles Brown gave Penshaw a 2-0 interval lead but Croft pulled one back after the restart but could not break through in solid Penshaw defence to force a draw at least.

Norton-Stockton's fight back to avoid relegation continues, they played exceptionally well to defeat fellow strugglers the Lord Seaham 5-1 at home but just on half time Bobby Hatfield levelled. The restart saw Norton slowly gain control of the game. Mark Steel shot them into a 2-1 lead but Aldridge followed with a brace of goal to make it 4-1 to Norton.

Finally, Bob Hatfield scored his second goal of the match to end it 5-1 in Norton's favour. With Usworth as good as relegated it's any two from five for the other clubs to accompany them.
