THE National Trust's Roseberry Topping property is to welcome its latest recruits - six llamas.
The llamas, traditionally found on the slopes of the Andes, in South America, will be carrying stone up Little Roseberry for dry stone walls and fencing materials up Roseberry, in North Yorkshire.
The llamas can usually be found at Ravenscar, near Scarborough.
They are more cost effective than a helicopter and, in wet weather, will offer less impact on the ground compared with a quadbike.
It is hoped to use them in establishing Walks with Llamas around Roseberry - a job they currently do at Ravenscar. The initial dates for these walks are May 20, June 16 and July 21.
