Richard Guest, very much a trainer going places and fresh from his first Cheltenham Festival success in his new role, can be on the mark at Wetherby today with Bernardon in the Iain Longman Handicap Hurdle over two miles.

Although the eight-year-old was mainly disappointing for Martin Pipe last year, he showed he retains plenty of ability when fourth to Through The Rye over this course and distance on his penultimate start.

With Maceo (who finished eight lengths behind him that day) going on to win at Ayr in fluent fashion on his next start, that form looks reasonable and he can confirm placings with the latter on these better terms.

His last run can safely be ignored as his saddle slipped at Sandown and he was pulled up at an early stage (as on his first run for the yard after a long break in January). He is taken to beat the progressive Mr Lear.

Pauline Robson, a regular face in the winners' enclosure in the point sphere in her capacity as a trainer and rider, has made a good start to her career under rules and she can be on the mark with On The Luce in the Leprechaun Novices Handicap Chase over three miles and one furlong.

A winner over three miles on heavy ground at Newcastle, the seven-year-old seemed to find the 2 1/2 miles on the sharp side, despite the testing conditions, at Newcastle last time. The return to this trip looks sure to suit.

Bob's Buster has been an improved performer this year and looks the one to be on in the Rocom Plantronics Handicap Chase over two miles.

Although he doesn't find much off the bridle, he's capable of giving a good account from his current mark and he wasn't seen to best effect when just behind subsequent Champion Chase fifth Venn Ottery in a slowly run race at Market Rasen last time.

Stoneyford Glen has run creditably on both starts to date and looks the best bet in the Blarney Stone Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race over two miles.

Steve Gollings' gelding has run to a similar level when attaining a minor placing at both Folkestone and Doncaster and a repeat of that form should see him go close in an ordinary event.

Mary Reveley has had a few winners of late and her Powder Creek, who shaped well when second to a progressive sort at Newcastle last time, will appreciate the step up to 2 1/2 miles and is the fancy in division two of the Irish Day Maiden Hurdle.

At Wolverhampton Torrent looks worth a second look in the New Site betdirect.co.uk Banded Stakes over five furlongs.

David Chapman, who has three in the race, has his team in good form and Tony Culhane, who rides the bulk of the stable's runners takes the ride. The strong pace looks sure to be in his favour.

Culhane and Chapman can also be on the mark with Headland, who looks to have Legalis to beat, in the betdirect.co.uk Claiming Stakes over seven furlongs. He has decent claims at these weights.

Recent track winner Jake Black, who is tried in a first time visor, is taken to beat dual course winner Mrs Cube in the Bet Direct On 0800 329393 Banded Stakes over the extended nine furlongs.

* Uttoxeter lost its prestigious John Smith's Midlands Grand National fixture when gale force winds made conditions too dangerous for racing at the Staffordshire track.
