POLICE are warning people to be aware of blue tablets circulating in east Cleveland which can cause fits similar to epileptic seizures.
The small, round tablets, which have no markings, are believed to be from the Far East.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Drug users attending their treatment services have reported adverse reactions when taking similarly described tablets, including seizures, which they have described as being similar to an epileptic fit.
"As with any drugs, the fear is that, taken in quantity, or indeed mixed with other drugs, these could have a toxic effect and cause serious medical problems."
Police are advising that anyone finding similar coloured tablets, or any other drugs, should take them to a police station.
Police want to encourage anyone with information on drug dealing in the Langbaurgh area to assist with the ongoing Dealer a Day campaign and contact police on freephone (0800) 0929702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
