Darlington MP Alan Milburn and the chief executive of Darlington Partnership have signed a pledge aimed at stopping age discrimination.
Mr Milburn and chief executive Steve Rose signed the Breaking the Age Barrier pledge at Age Concern in Darlington. It aims to promote the value and contribution of older workers and customers.
Mr Milburn said: "I warmly welcome this campaign by Age Concern which emphasises how important older workers are to businesses in Darlington. Their contribution needs to be recognised."
Councillor Glen Reynolds, of Age Concern, said: "By getting as many employers as possible to sign up to this pledge, Age Concern aims to promote the business case for age equality in the workplace and for acting ahead of new legislation."
