A group has been formed for children who are too old for baby groups, but are too young for pre-school clubs.
The Inbetweenies caters for children between six months and two years, and allows parents to meet and chat while their children play.
The club meets on Tuesdays at new Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre, on the former Avenue School site, from 1pm to 3pm. Admission costs 30p.
A spokeswoman said: "Children will have the opportunity to play and make new friends whilst the adults chat, share experiences and learn new skills.
"The Inbetweenies have been formed to run a supportive, friendly parenting group for children who are between baby groups and pre-school.
"The group is run by parents, for parents and each week we will organise activities, visiting speakers, raffles, trips and much more."
