AN award-winning journalist has been appointed head of a North-East media training centre.
Scott Armstrong, 31, joins the centre - part of Darlington College of Technology - from the Yorkshire Evening Post, in Leeds, where he was deputy news editor.
He replaces Tony Metcalf, who left to run a newspaper in the Middle East.
Mr Armstrong, originally from Nottingham, previously worked for Newcastle-based newspapers, the Evening Chronicle and Sunday Sun, and the Press Association.
He is a past winner of the North-East Press Awards business writer of the year.
"Within the industry, Darlington college's reputation is legendary, so I simply had to go for the job," said Mr Armstrong, who lives near York.
"Darlington has a fantastic reputation and I want to take that message to the rest of the country."
