PUPILS from a Teesdale school have won a competition to design an energy-efficient house.
The year six pupils from St Mary's RC Primary School, in Barnard Castle, competed against other Teesdale primary schools in the Green Explorers Rural Challenge.
The children had to create an energy-efficient house from recycled materials.
Paul Tucker, who teaches at the school, said: "The children did really well. They are a very good set of kids. They took a lot of different environmental issues, and didn't just concentrate on one type."
The team was presented with the Archer Trophy by Hazel Ipsen from GlaxoSmithKline, which sponsored the competition.
