RESIDENTS have taken to the streets of Darlington as part of a spring cleaning effort.
Members of Havelock Street Community Centre responded to a request by the borough council on Wednesday to help pick up litter and clean road signs.
Throughout this month the authority's litter and street care teams will be carrying out a spring clean.
Residents interested in helping them will be provided with gloves, sacks and litter-picking sticks.
Chris McEwan, the council's cabinet member for community protection, said: "I am delighted to see the local community and school groups take a hands-on approach to the Big Spring Clean and support the council in its bid to tidy up the borough.
