Lealholm coped well with the gusty wind and went ahead after just five minutes through Robinson, after an appeal for hand ball was turned down ten minutes later Grosmont equalised when Peggs beat the keeper to head into an open goal. The game was fairly even for the next 15 minutes, then a long range shot from Whitwell was picked up by Robinson for his second. Robinson completed his first half hat trick with a headed goal 5 minutes before the break. In the early minutes a Cook corner was headed in by Butler and within a further 15 minutes substitute Crooks scored twice more, first with a close range shot then with an easy tap in. A Lealholm break by Hill put Crooks through, he was denied his hat trick by a good save but Robinson was on hand to put in the rerbound.
