POLICE in Bishop Auckland are preparing to tackle a mini-crimewave and clear the town centre of car theft.
This month, police have had reports of 29 cars being broken into and items stolen, and a further 18 reports of criminal damage believed to be attempted thefts.
The problem has been worst in the town centre, Henknowle and Cockton Hill areas.

They are also appealling for help following car crimes in the town's Albert Hill area.
