A THEATRE group planning a spring production has been stumped in its search for a vital prop - a Christmas tree.
Consett, Blackhill and Shotley Bridge (CBS) amateur operatic society is putting on the hit musical Annie later this year.
Producer Margaret Darroch wants a large, traditional, artificial Christmas tree for the show's Yuletide scenes.
"It is a bit of a bizarre request, but someone must have one in their attic or garage," she said.
"It has to be an old-fashioned one and over six feet tall.
"If we cannot find one, we will have to buy a real tree. But it is far too heavy to have waiting in the wings for a week."
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Mrs Darroch on (01207) 505619.
Annie will run at the Empire Theatre, in Consett, from Monday, May 10, to Saturday May 15.
Tickets are £7 or £6, and are available from the box office on (01207) 218171.
