Chester Le Street 17 Consett 0: Chester continued their fine run of form in this non league match against Consett team in absolutely shocking weather conditions.
From the start the Chester front five of Laws, Evans, O'Conner, Wilson and Tidd dominated the scrums, constantly pushing Consett off the ball.
It was from one such scrum that Chester opened the scoring with the ball being shipped down the line for Alan Telford to jink through the Consett defence to score. Thirlaway's kick was well on target but the strong wind held the ball short of the posts.
Consett were putting some good attacks together but could not break the Chester defence. Chester then turned defence into attack with an excellent run through from Alan Telford who scored his second of the game.
Yet again the wind played its part, turning Thirlaway's kick onto the post to rebound safely into Consett hands.
Chester had the measure on the lineouts, but the wind played havoc for both teams trying to keep the ball straight.
The second half started with Chester making changes, bringing on the Langley brothers at No.8 and front row to bolster the already commanding Chester pack.
Back row Jason Dale was sin-binned for illegal use of the foot at a ruck, shortly followed by the Consett No.11 for a professional foul.
Chester's best score of the game came when their pack robbed a Consett ball at the scrum for scrum half Scott "BJ" Milne to dart through and touch down under the posts. Thirlaway made sure of the two extra points.
Yet again this was another fine performance from Chester, who showed passion and determination from start to finish.
Chester 1st XV travel to West Hartlepool Amateurs for the rearranged league fixture on Saturday, while Chester 2nd XV entertain Ryton 3rds at the Riverside. Both games kick off at 3 pm.

The Under-17s have been frustrated by a string of cancellations for weather, and other reasons, and have not played a competitive game for a month.
It was then all the more pleasing that they produced a good game against West on Sunday. The cross-pitch wind did neither side any favours, and was strong enough to make place kicking and passing difficult.
Mowden Park were first to score after ten minutes of back and forth play between the two 22s.
The scrum got a good driving maul from just inside the West 22 metre line and the push over allowed scrum half Scott Peacock to ground the ball near the posts. Stand-off half Mark Zissler's kick was blown onto the upright.
Three minutes later West were awarded a penalty in front of the posts, and pulled back three points.
The scoring flurry was not over, and West's clearance from a five metre scrum was picked up by No. 8 Chris Dodd, who broke through the West defences to score under the posts. Mark Zissler converted.
Zissler was back in action five minutes later when he broke round the blind side of the scrum to score in the corner.
West were not finished though, and Mowden did well to withstand several strong attacks on their five metre line before the half time whistle blew, with the score at 17-3.
The second half produced two good team tries with excellent support through a number of phases.
The first try started with an impressive break by flanker Simon Cooke, who enjoyed a good game, and was finished off five phases later by prop Chris Davies.
The second saw the ball moved out to centre Adam Hunt, who left all behind him to score near the corner.
On the stroke of full-time, West scored a consolation try.
