THE Yorkshire Sport Horse Committee are running a silent auction for nominations to four top class stallions as part of this year's campaign to promote breeding of quality stock.
The stallion nominations on offer are to Mill Law, an advanced event stallion with a proven record in the eventing field and the second best BHD sire by winnings in 1999/2000, McGuigan, also an advanced eventer and winner of the BSH Eventing Award in 2002, Merit, a thoroughbred who had a very successful career on the racecourse and is now sire of many winning show horses, and Dow Jones, part-bred sire of many successful show horses at county level, eventers and jumpers.
Chris McGrann, chairman of the committee, said: "We are particularly fortunate to be able to offer these four brilliant stallions and we are indebted to their owners for their generosity in offering them to us.
"We hope anyone currently looking for a stallion for their mares will consider one of them".
Committee secretary Mary Wood has further details and can be contacted on 01751 431404. Offers close on April 1.
Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Sport Horse Show will take place on June 16 at Carlton Husthwaite, Thirsk. All the usual qualifiers are in place, together with some new classes. Schedules will be available shortly.
