Coxhoe Boys: COXHOE Boys Under 14s clinched the Russell Foster Youth League title in emphatic style last week.
On Sunday - after Friday night's narrow one-goal victory against Fishburn - Bobby Orton's boys smashed eight past Whitburn without reply to claim their 15th successive league victory.
Goals from Michael Owens (3), Nathan Ward (2), Stuart Doughty, John Dodd and Shane Gavin clinched their memorable win.
That league success followed an entertaining night's action at Spennymoor's Brewery Field two days earlier when Dodd's goal earned them a friendly win.
Coxhoe, who face Tyneside on Sunday at 2pm as champions, were delighted and Orton said: "They were all outstanding and I don't really want to single players out especially as we have just won the league."
Spraire Lads
Spraire Lads U8s, sponsored by Astra Transport, went down 2 - 1 to Coulby Newham. The decider was a penalty given to Coulby Newham; despite this, Spraire battled well in a hard fought game, with MoM, Liam Mckue scoring the Spaire goal with a great shot after receiving the ball from a Jonathan Dye free kick.
Spraire Lads U9s were very unfortunate to go down 1-0 to Brinkburn Juniors. Spraire kicked-off against the wind and did very well to restrict Brinkburn to a single goal, which was well worked. Spraire 'keeper Jake Wood, in particular did very well. In the second half, Lee Varley and MoM, Lee Clarke took control of the midfield and created numerous chances for Spraire, but unfortunately they just couldn't get the vital goal.
Spraire Lads U10s, sponsored by Douglas Newsagents, were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Norton and Stockton Ancients. Spraire started strongly with Kerry Hedley and Matty Plumb going close, but responded well and 'keeper Jack Binks had to be alert. After a goal-less first half, Wilson Kneeshaw open the scoring for Spraire straight after the restart. Spraire continued to play well until final seven or eight minutes when Norton equalised and with time running out, Norton broke to score the winning goal.
Spraire Lads U11s shared the points with California Boys in a keenly contested game. California Boys built-up a 2-goal lead before MoM, Brian Todd pulled a goal back for Spraire before the interval. In the second-half Spraire produced probably their best perormance of the season and deservedly equalised through Jackson Kneeshaw.
Spraire Lads U14s had to be content with a share of the points against big rivals Leeming Lads, who were probably hoping for a repeat of their convincing victory from earlier in the season. However, Leeming were soon on the defensive when a cleverly placed chip by Joe Clamp put Spraire 1-0 ahead after 2 minutes. Spraire continued to dominate play for most of the first half. After the restart, Leeming were more assertive in midfield and managed to create a few chances, which 'keeper Daniel Davison dealt with well; in particular, his fine diving save low to his left kept Spraire in the game. Spraire held on until the closing minutes, when Davison conceded a controversial penalty, which was efficiently converted to leave the final score 1-1.
After a poor start, Spraire Lads U15A, sponsored by CCW installations, overcame Division Three leaders South Park Juniors to move into the next round of the League Cup. After presenting South Park Juniors with a 2 goal first-half lead, Craig Lavelle pulled a goal back for Spraire strait after the re-start with fine individual effort. Gary Hill then headed an equaliser from a Michael Lavelle cross. Matthew Davison put Spraire in front with a long range effort and then with minutes remainig Craig Lavelle added his second. Jason Tibbett wrapped up the scoring in the dying seconds to seal a 5-2 win. Spraire's MoM was Nathan Liddle.
Spraire Lads U15B defeated Whinney Banks 3-0 to stay top their Division. However the result was overshadowed by the news that James McBride suffered a broken leg and ankle that will result in a 6-month lay-off. All of the Spraire players send their best wishes to James in the hope of a speedy recovery. After a goalless first-half, Sam Clarke opened the scoring from 6 yards. Shortly after, Elliot Gardner's rocket from the left was palmed out to the feet of Lee Borrowdale, who made no mistake. Ten minutes from time, Tom Hind broke down the right and his pin-point cross found Borrowdale lurking at the far post for an exquisite side-foot finish. Spraire's 'keeper, Jonathan Petch, was a worthy MoM for his exemplary display in very tricky conditions.
Spraire Lads U15C entertained Billingham Wanderers in a very evenly balanced and exciting game. Billingham took advantage of the wind in the first half to lead 3-1 by half time; Jaz Simpson scoring Spraire's goal. With the wind at their backs Spraire piled on the pressure in the second half. A goal looked inevitable with Spraire hitting the crossbar and forcing several goal line clearances but Billingham broke away and scored a fourth. Spraire continued to force the game and were rewarded with two superb goals from Matthew Hufford. Jack Conway on his home debut then headed a fourth to levels the score, but with just minutes remaining Billingham scored the decider. MOM goes to the entire Spraire lads team for their never say die attitude and tremendous team spirit.
Spraire Lads U16s, sponsored by Cummins Engines, went down 3-0 to second-placed Kader. Spraire had the wind at the backs in the first-half but despite having the bulk of the possession, just couldn't make the advantage count. In the second half Kader scored three goals.

A great start against Sunderland's Red house with Luke Elms effort and an own goal, gave Willington a 2 -O victory, but although a spirited second half fight back could not overcome a 1-0 deficit against South Tyneside.
