A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious chest injuries following a road accident on Thursday night.
He was driving a red Renault Clio towards Whitby on the A171 between the roundabout with the A169 and Four Lane End Garage when the accident happened.
At 8.42pm the Clio was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the same direction and left the road, ending up in a field some distance from the road.
The driver, a local man, was taken to Scarborough Hospital and then transferred to Castle Hill Hospital in Hull.
The Corsa driver, also a local man, was uninjured.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them on (01723) 509662.
