A PLASTICS company is planning to expand its product range after achieving a seven-figure turnover in only its third year of operation.
Plastics UK (NPUK), in Sedgefield, County Durham, has forecast a 20 per cent growth in business, taking turnover from £1.4m last year to £2.25m.
The company specialises in supplying plastic film and bags for pack-aging perishable products, such as bread and cakes, and non-food items including CDs, DVDs and greetings cards.
It supplies a number of supermarkets in the UK, bakery and produce packers, fast food outlets and distributors as well as companies in Scandinavia.
David Granger, managing director, has been credited as the driving force behind NPUK, a subsidiary of Now Plastics Inc, a US company.
Formerly employed by Filmco and the Viskase Corporation, Mr Granger has more than 25 years' experience in the sector.
He said: "The last three years have been a great experience and I have enjoyed every moment of it.
"From the start of the process I was convinced that there was a market for Now Plastics in the UK and Europe as the products are excellent, as long as the business was set up and run in the right way.
"We are now looking forward to the future and are looking to introduce new products in to the market."
The company received advice on a number of business issues from accountants and business development specialists Haines Watts.
