MODEL gliding enthusiasts are to be allowed to extend their flying area at Levisham Moor and the Hole of Horcum.
The North York Moors National Park Authority's planning committee has renewed permission for the North Yorkshire Moors Ridge Soaring Club to fly radio controlled gliders for five years.
The authority's chief planning officerVal Dilcock said the club had also wanted to extend north of its existing flying area over the southern part of Levisham Moor to allow the enthusiasts to fly their model gliders when the wind changed direction.
Ms Dilcock said: "The current flying limit means that when the wind changes members of the club have to pack up and drive to Saltersgate to continue flying."
Temporary permission had been granted to the club because of concerns about the erosion of the beauty spots due to the number of visitors to the area.
