A SCHOOL football team have copied their Carling Cup winning Middlesbrough FC heroes by winning their own national trophy in Cardiff.
The six-a-side boys team from The Avenue Primary School, in Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, won the Kelloggs Frosties Trophy.
The nine to 11-year-olds beat Our Lady's Primary from Oxford 2-1 in the national final at the Millennium Stadium.
The boys won the match in a game played before the LDV Vans Trophy Final between Blackpool and Southend.
It was the second cup won by the team who had also won the Middlesbrough Area Final. And they had a third trophy in their hands earlier this week when Middlesbrough FC loaned them the Carling Cup for a day.
Team coach and teacher Steven Warriner said 3,000 teams from across the country had taken part in the competition which included a number of regional heats.
He said: "It was a fantastic achievement and the whole school is proud.
"They won 2-1 at Cardiff just like the Boro."
Brian Swinnerton, whose son Callum is in the team, said: "I'm proud of Callum, obviously, and I'm proud of the whole team. It really is an incredible achievement."
The Avenue squad is: Liam Jowers, Louise O'Lone, Adam Kett, Thomas Conroy, Michael Blakey, Daniel Johnson, John Robson and Callum Swinnerton.
