AIR model enthusiasts flocked to a show at the weekend to see displays of indoor and outdoor flying.

Also on offer at the Spring Model Show, at York Racecourse, was the chance to buy and sell parts, equipment and models.

People travelled from as far away as Glasgow and Southend-on-Sea to view static and moving models from 30 exhibitors, as well as taking part in a modellers bring and buy sale.

Sunday saw a demonstration of the skills needed to become a top flight enthusiast.

Show secretary, Christine Hayton said: "We have little helicopters and gliders from about 12in to others with a 20ft wing span. You can buy anything from a pot of paint, to a paintbrush, to kits, to actual models which have been put together.

"The show has been very popular and has gone really well."

The event was created by the team which organised Elvington Airshow and a large model aircraft rally held in August, at Rufforth Airfield, the home of York Gliding Centre.

It has been held in Harrogate in previous years and this is the first time it has been held in York.
