WORK has started on a building project in the Yorkshire Dales designed to help address the shortage of low-cost homes.
Soaring prices have put many properties out of reach of people born and brought up in the area, with a growing number snapped up as holiday homes. The Broadacres Housing Association has began work on six affordable homes in Mill Lane, Askrigg, to address the problem.
They will include two three-bedroomed houses, three two-bedroomed houses and a single two-bedroomed bungalow.
All should be available to rent by the end of the year.
