A TEENAGER battling leukaemia hopes to be one of the first to jump off Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge and slide 800ft down a wire.
Lindsey Wood, 19, of Ingleby Barwick, who has acute lymphastic leukaemia, has already abseiled down the Tyne Bridge.
Event organiser The Anthony Nolan Trust hopes hundreds of people will join Lindsey for the zip slide event on May 29, 30 and 31.
Peter Finnigan, North-East area manager for the trust, said: "It has never been done before. But there is a very serious point behind this. We urgently need money in order to add more people to our register of potential donors and thereby offer more very ill patients the chance of life."
Lindsey, who is waiting for a suitable bone marrow donor, said she was looking forward to taking part.
The entry fee is £10 and volunteers need to raise at least £100 in sponsorship. For an entry form, call (01555) 660388. Places are limited.
