DURHAM City Council has launched a guide about how residents can get involved with its work.
The guide for tenants and owner-occupiers across the district gives information about how they can have an input into decision making.
The guide was launched as the council held its third open day at the Meadowfield Leisure Centre.
Visitors also had the chance to view displays about various consultation projects that the council is carrying out.
The guide replaces one that was produced to Government guidelines but was felt not to meet local needs.
Chief executive Brian Spears said: "The new style district-wide compact is a unique and refreshing approach.
"Its loose-leaf style is easy to use, easy to update and it is a very user friendly practical guide.
"Its aim is to promote opportunities for involvement and therefore it is a significant part of the agenda for the community involvement open day.
