SEVEN matches remaining and David Hodgson wants to make sure the last few games are pressure free.
Darlington have lost just one of their last 12 games to lift them out of the relegation zone, but they are still involved in the dogfight.
They are fifth bottom, but have a five-point advantage over Macclesfield.
And, ahead of Saturday's trip to Boston - another side to ease their relegation worries in recent weeks, Hodgson said: "We have seven games to go and we know exactly what we need to do.
"There are still seven or eight teams who could still go down and we have to make sure we're not one of them as soon as possible.''
Yet, despite the upturn in fortunes in recent weeks, Hodgson was concerned by the manner in which his side earned a point in the 1-1 draw with at the weekend.
"I was happy with the result," said Hodgson. "What I wasn't happy about was the way in which we went about getting it.
"I know what these lads can do but they just didn't do it on Saturday.
"We had to be happy with a point because Torquay were the better side.
"There aren't many teams we could say that about lately but for a club in our position, we cannot afford to let teams dictate like they did."
The Quakers boss has no fresh injury worries ahead of the weekend trek.
Mark Convery took a knock against Torquay but should be fit in time to face the Pilgrims, along with defender Joey Hutchinson, who suffered no reaction to a hamstring problem.
Barry Conlon has been credited with Quakers' goal in Saturday's draw. The Irishman said on Saturday that on-loan Sunderland striker Neil Teggart may have had the final touch from Lee Canoville's attempted clearance.
However, replays have confirmed that Conlon was the scorer, taking his tally to 12 for the season.
* Darlington's reserves play at the Reynolds Arena against Newcastle United tonight, kick-off 7pm. Admission is £3 and £1, although season ticket holders get in free.
