SOLDIER'S favourite, Nicky Parkin, manager at Greggs bakery in Catterick, is bidding her colleagues and customers farewell as she heads off to Germany with her husband, as he takes up a new post.
Nicky started working part-time at the shop two-and-a-half years ago when her husband, Steven, was first posted to Catterick, at the Marne Barracks, 5th Regiment, Royal Artillery.
Nicky's potential was spotted almost immediately and she was promoted to shop manager, responsible for nine staff.
Nicky said: "It was great to be made manager of such a busy shop. There are so many familiar faces that come in and out every day that it's truly a part of the community and is a lot more fun than most jobs!
"The atmosphere is fantastic and Catterick really feels like home - I'm going to miss everything."
