ACTIVITIES to help older people at a hospital day unit has been hailed a success. The Healthy Lifestyle and Memory Day was held at the Hardwycke Day Unit in Sedgefield Community Hospital yesterday.
Age Concern has been supporting the unit's memory sessions by using its ReAct, Recall and Activities Library to provide a daily varied programme of activities and reminiscences.
This successful partnership led to the one-day event, which provided information, advice and complementary therapies.
Age Concern locality manager Kathleen Young said: "Using the ReAct and Recall library, Sedgefield Community staff have tried out the activity equipment to help with gentle exercise, along with reminiscence memorabilia during the memory sessions."
The ReAct and Recall library is available to carers of older people. More information is available on (01388) 770505.
