FUNDRAISING to buy rehabilitation equipment for a six-year-old girl is likely to exceed £1,000.
Chloe Miller, from Newton Aycliffe, has cerebral palsy and severe sight problems.
She is preparing to go into hospital for an operation on both hips and will be in plaster for several months.
Chloe has outgrown much of the specialist equipment she needs to help her, so family and friends are raising funds to buy replacements.
They are hoping to raise £5,500 to buy an adapted bed and other aids for when she comes out of hospital.
Fundraising efforts got off to a flying start at the weekend with a fun day at the Moore Lane Sports Centre.
The day raised £408 and a further £400 has been pledged in sponsorship money.
More money will be raised on Friday, with a pub crawl in Newton Aycliffe, when participants will be dressed in St Trinian's outfits.
A raffle will also be held at the Royal British Legion Club in Macmillan Road on Sunday.
Fundraisers are in the process of setting up a bank account for people who want to make donations to the appeal.
