YOUNGSTERS who created musical compositions will produce a CD and perform their works live.
The children from five schools in Stockton have written songs with the Write to Read project and are making CDs at the Sanity Multimedia recording studio, at Castlegate Quay, in Stockton.
The project, aimed at youngsters from primary schools through to college students, hopes to improve children's language skills through music.
The youngsters have already performed live in local concerts as well as at radio stations, and their next show will be at Stockton Riverside College at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 6.
Andrew Joyce, organiser of the Write to Read song writing activities, said: "Everyone enjoys music of some kind, so making up songs is a very good way to get creative.
"Write to Read aims to help local people improve their creative language skills through enjoyable activities. Writing songs and making music is great fun and we are all learning a lot too."
