A MOTHER is calling for the council to demolish a dangerously unstable garage.
Joanne Szymanski says the derelict garage at the bottom of her council house garden in Aldbrough Walk, on the Lascelles estate, in Darlington, could fall down at any time.
She has alerted Darlington Borough Council to the problem and staff have visited a number of times to remove the asbestos roof, board it up and put beams in to support the structure.
But Mrs Szymanski said its dilapidated state is attracting youngsters who are damaging it further.
"They are climbing all over it and wrecking it even more now," she said.
"They pull slabs of concrete off it and throw them into my garden, so it is dangerous for my children to play there."
Mrs Szymanski, who has two children aged six and three, said: "People are dumping rubbish in it now as well.
"But I am really worried someone will be seriously hurt or killed, because it is so unstable. One wall is wobbling all over the place and there is an alleyway next to it, so the whole thing could just fall down on top of someone walking past."
She said Darlington council is planning to demolish it but she fears it will not be done in time to prevent someone being injured.
A local authority spokesman said officers would visit the site to have another look at the garage and take action to solve the problem.
