PLANS for a secondary school are expected to be approved next week.
Sunderland City Council's cabinet will be asked to agree construction of a secondary school for Washington.
Cabinet members will also be asked to allow its freehold interest in part of the land at Usworth School to be taken over by City of Sunderland College for a sixth-form college.
The cabinet, which meets on Wednesday, will also be asked to approve a review of the arrangements for admission of pupils to Washington's remaining three secondary schools once Usworth School has closed.
