Spennymoor have signed their seventh goalkeeper of the season as they try to force their way into the play offs.

Moors boss Tony Lee has moved to sign Liam Sutcliffe from Harrogate Town, because Gareth Downey returns after Saturday's game to Scarborough at the end of his loan spell.

Sutcliffe becomes Moors' seventh keeper this season, after Adrian Swan, Jon Collinson, Martin Kearney, Steve Tierney, Ashley Connor and Downey.

But Lee was again frustrated as Moors lost 4-2 at Vauxhall Motors in midweek. "It was the same old story for us. Poor defending cost us goals, especially the first two," he said. "We must improve our defending if we want to get into the play offs."

Bishop Auckland manager Brian Honour admits that his team is in a dogfight to finish in the top thirteen.

After the midweek draw against Stocksbridge which put Bishops into twelfth place in the First Division, Honour believes every game will be hard fought right up to the end of the season.

"The league is turning out exactly the way I thought it would," he said.

"At the start of the season when the league announced that the top thirteen would be promoted, I said there would be no middle of the road games, and that's exactly how it's worked out.

"Every team above and below us is battling away for a top thirteen place, and for every team finishing in the top thirteen, it will be like winning the league. Every club apart from bottom club Kendal is in the promotion hunt.

"But we should have had this sorted out a long time ago. We've dropped too many points because of defensive mistakes."

Bishops have announced that John Cowey has been appointed to the board. Club chairman Terry Jackson said: "John has contributed an enormous amount in recent times, not least in helping set up the new stadium fund, organising numerous events, the Independent Supporters club and the website. His expertise will be key as we complete the move to Tindale Crescent."

Former Darlington RA striker Steve Johnson scored both goals for Whitby in their 2-2 draw at Marine on Tuesday night.
