The semi-final of the Ironside Cup (Div 2) second placed Wynyard Vets had a comfortable 4-0 win over Hebburn DT and now meet either North Shields Spring Gardens or Red House in the final.
In the premier Ferryhill Greyhound are in second spot, they won 3-1 at home to Blackhall. Ferryhill were always in command and took the lead after ten minutes courtesy of Martin McQuade and then went further ahead when Geoff Mason was fouled and Martin Cantwell slotted home the spot kick to make it 2-0. The restart followed a similar pattern and midway through the second half Geoff Marr made it 3-0 when he scored with a fine solo effort. Blackhall reduced the arrears when they scored five minutes from time.
In division one Glaxo kept up their promotion drive by winning 3-2 away to Newton Aycliffe. It was a very close game with Glaxo taking the lead when Nookie Brown put away a penalty awarded for hand ball. Shortly after the restart Aycliffe levelled and shortly after took the lead. The game swung end to end and with Glaxo equalising when Brown converted another penalty and broke the deadlock and completed hi hat-trick when he slammed home a cross from Alan Gates to give Glaxo a 3-2 away victory.
Sedgefield won 2-0 at home against Hartlepool Catholic Club and keep them still in relegation trouble as they have only one game left to play which is against bottom club Wallsend Rising Sun.
Consett made sure of promotion by winning 3-1 away to Wallsend Rising Sun. the first half ended goalless and it was not until Rising Sun took the lead that Consett showed their true form by storming back into attack and putting the home side under pressure. Barry Taylor levelled cutting in from the wing to score. Robert Ramshaw slammed home a corner from Kevin Carr and Ian Henderson settled the issue with a fine 25 yards solo effort to beat three opponents and finally the keeper and won the game 3-1 for Consett.
In division two Langley Park Rams Head continued their push for promotion defeating Spring Gardens 3-0 at home and are now in sixth place with games in hand of the teams above them. Vince Chatterton gave them a 1-0 interval lead and then shortly after the restart scored his second to put them 2-0 up. Finally the issue was settled when his brother Kevin Chatterton added a third goal. Left back David Wilkinson had an excellent game.
Darlington Railway moved off bottom when they defeated fellow strugglers Willow Pond 5-1 away from home. Trailing 1-0 at the break they came good after the restart and went nap by scoring five goals to run out 5-1 away winners.
Billingham Town eased their worries by winning 5-0 away to Barnes Hotel.
In division three Crook Town now head the table, they won 6-0 at home to the Dagmar leading 3-0 at the interval with the issue never in double when David Neil had a blinder scoring a hat-trick, John Roberts, Brian Fowler and Brian Conway got one apiece. Geoff Hall dominated the midfield.
Durham C Strollers played well to hold fourth place promotion seekers British Telecom to a goalless draw.
West Cornforth's recent loss of form continues when they drew 0-0 at home to Regency Windows who now move one place out of the relegation zone.
In division four Trimdon Vets lost 0-1 at home to promotion hopefuls Pennywell Comrades in a very close game. Pennywell stay third, three points above Darsley Park who won 3-1 away to Hartlepool Warrior and have a game in hand of Pennywell.
