Last weekend it was the turn of the masters for Billingham Amateur Swimming Club with nine swimmers competing at the Darlington Dolphin Masters Gala.
All the swimmers put in gutsy performances and gave their all to successfully bring home eight gold, eight silver and eight bronze
Two swimmers competed in the 19 to 24 years section. Helen Muscroft was victorious in gold position for the 100m back, free and IM, which was a personal best and two silvers in the 200m and 50m free. Lorraine Riddle with four PBs succeeded with three silver in the 50m fly, 100m breast and IM, third in the 100m back and free and just missed out on a medal with fourth place in the 200m free.
Alister Wrigley competed in the 30 to 34 age bracket with a PB. In the 100m back and finishing in silver position and was successful with a bronze in the 50m fly and 100m IM his other swim was 100m fly.
Three competitors swam in the 40 to 44 age bracket. Shirley Fawkes was triumphant with gold in the 200m free and silver in the 100m free she also swam a PB in the 50m free. Mark Wilson just missed out on a medal in 4th position in the 100m back, had two pb's in the 100m and 200m free and swam 100m IM and 50m breast. Gary Snowball swam 50m free and fly also 100m IM, free and fly.
In the 45 to 49 age category three swimmers competed. Guy Fawkes was successful with a gold in the 200m free, silver in the 100m fly, bronze for the 50m fly and just missing out in 4th position for his other swims of 50m and 100m free. Sue Wilson was another winner with two golds in the 200m back and 200m free, bronze in the 100m IM and swam 50m free all swims were PBs apart from 50m back. Gillian Sheehan had good swims in the 50 and 100m free both were PB.
In the team events the mixed relays were successful in collecting bronze in both the free and medley. In the men's there were two free relays they were triumphant in gold position in one and just missing out in 4th for the second. In the medley they came sixth.
