Tow Law Juniors

Tow Law visited Chester Town and started well with their first reward coming after 20 minutes when Nicky Martin converted after good work from Adam Sullivan. However two minutes later the home side were back on terms after the Lawyers keeper, William Bland gifted them with the equaliser.

Anthony Lee restored the Tow Law lead after 26 minutes with a cracking shot from the edge of the area and then the visitors' lead was increased when John Wheatley hit a long pass, which put Nicky Martin through to round the keeper and slide the ball into the net. However Chester showed their fighting spirit by capitalising on another defensive error.

Eleven minutes into the second half brought the goal of the match when Andrew Bonilla broke down the left and finished it off with a cracking unstoppable shot. The home side were undeterred and again pulled back a goal two minutes later.

The Lawyers wore down the home side in the late stages when Andrew Bonilla smashed in a shot from twenty yards after 75 minutes and, two minutes later John Wheatley cracked in a low shot from eleven yards. Daniel Appleby added the seventh with a free kick from twenty yards after 84 minutes with Dwain Dobson completing the scoring two minutes from the end with a good shot at the end of a good run down the left.

This was the best performance of the season for Tow Law with the back four of Chris Wayman, David Curry, Michael Coulthard and David Murray coping well with a lively home attack, but the Man of the Match award went to Andrew Bonilla, who was celebrating his eighteenth birthday.

Tow Law Juniors next match is at the Ironworks Road ground, Tow Law on Sunday, April 11 at 11.30 am when they play Seaham High Colliery.

Bishop Auckland Barrington Wanderers

Barrington Wanderers played away in the semi final of the league cup and were beaten 4-0 by Jarrow FC. The best team won however, the scoreline flatters the game.

For the first 20 minutes Barrington had the home team well under control but were unlucky to concede a penalty from which Jarrow converted. With the team still rattled they concede a sloppy goal soon after but then managed to steady the game.

Then another penalty was given making it 3-0 at half time. A silly mistake by Barrington's left winger reduced the team to 10 men but Barrington still held firm until minutes before the final whistle with Jarrow getting the fourth.

Andrew Sneddon was named man of the match because for all the result was going against the team he kept playing and giving the match his all right until the final whistle.

Coxhoe Boys

Coxhoe continued their dominance in the second division of the Russell Foster Under-15s League with another three points at the weekend which keeps them on course to go through the season winning every league game.

Despite being hit by injuries, a goal apiece from Nathan Ward and Michael Owens gave them a 2-0 win over Tyneside who were a strong but fair side.

Injury ruled out Daniel Purvis and Steven Bunning before the game, and midway though midfielder Michael Roberts left the field with an injury.

But after some good saves from goalkeeper Tom Orton, Bobby Orton's side battled on and, with Sunderland striker Marcus Stewart an impressed spectator, managed to take their 16th win from as many games.
