Cleveland League Sposored by Coors Brewers, Division One: Guisborough Cons. A recorded the result of week 25 after beating Marske Workies A 4-2. Steve Rutter put Guisborough 2-0 in front after beating Mark Kennedy with scores of 70-16 and 44-42, during his first game Rutter compiled an impressive 42 break.
Andrew Williams then levelled the match when beating Colin Buckton with frame scores of 70-34 and 58-12. Mike King then sealed the victory for the Cons. when beating Andrew Mudd 63-46 and 56-43. The Redcar Lakes B team chalked up a 4-2 away win against Carlin How A during which Brian Norris compiled a 40 break in his second frame against Tindall. Saltburn Cons A continued their good season with a 5-1 home win against Guisborough TA, Paul Baggott recorded a 48 break in his match with Stewart Briggs. The Redcar Workies A team also recorded a 5-1 home win against Redcar Uniuonist's A, Richard Beckham rediscovered his season's earlier form when compiling breaks of 64 and 65 in his match with Adrian Smith. Lune Street A held new Marske to a 3 - 3 tie, during this match Paul Smith compiled a 30 break while Keith Corner had breaks of 36 and 37 in his match with Chris Smith. Carlin How B also held Redcar Cons A to a 3 - 3 tie, the highlight of this match was a 34 break recorded by Kelvin Pickthall against opponent mark Earl.
Division Two
Val's Priory a moved up into second spot this week aided by a 5 - 1 home win against their opponents Guisborough Cons. B. John Bracchi was the first to win both his games against Kenny Hughes with scores of 81 - 18 and 79 - 16. Dodgson then made it four frames to nil when beating Mark Stewart 73 - 34 and 54 - 38. Barry Walker made it 5 - 0 when winning his first game against Neil Grainger but Grainger rallied in the last to save the whitewash when winning by 47 - 37. The Lodge A also recorded an impressive 5 - 1 home win against Redcar Cons. B. Redcar Lakes C whitewashed their opponents, Saltburn Cons B, by 6 frames to nil. South Bank Albion also whitewashed their opponents, Redcar Unionists B, by the very same scoreline. Marske Workies B recorded a 4 - 2 home win against Brotton Workies A. Val's Priory B held Marske Workies C to a 3 - 3 tie. The same result was also recorded between Redcar Lakes D and Ennis Square B.
Harrison Trophy Final
This year's final was played between Phil Hartley (South Bank Albion) and Gary Beckett (Redcar Lakes Social Club) on Monday, March 22 at the Redcar Conservative Club. The match was best of five frames and the referee for this event was Steve Anderson. In the first game Gary Beckett got off to a great start and shortly after compiling an 18 break led by 42 - 9. Hartley fought back with a 21 break to narrow the gap to a mere 12 points and at his very next visit he followed this up with a 20 break winning the frame on the pink ball by 50-42. Beckett was leading once again in the second frame by 14 points to nil until Hartley chalked up a 32 break. He then followed this up with two 13 breaks and went on to win the second frame by 66 - 14. At the very start of the third frame Phil Hartley compiled a 32 break but then missed a vital red leaving Beckett in prime position. Beckett replied with an excellent 46 break to lead 46-32. Hartley then instantly replied with a 28 retaking the lead 60-46 and must have thought he was favourite to win the match their and then, Beckett's response was a remarkable 27 clearance to win the third frame with a score line of 73-60. In the fourth frame Phil Hartley gained an early 10 points advantage only to see Gary Beckett compile an incredible 81 break and with this Hartley conceded the frame losing by 81 - 10. The match was now even at two frames each. The final frame, as expected, started off very cagey with Hartley picking up an odd point here and their to lead by 21 - 1. Beckett then rattled a long red to which Hartley replied with a 16 break. Shortly after this he added further to his lead when compiling a 19 break. With Beckett now needing snookers, and only the colours remaining, he conceded the final game to a 59 - 16 scoreline and Phil Hartley became this year's winner of the Harrison Trophy. To summarise the standard of snooker seen in this match was first class and neither player deserved to lose.
Worthington CIU Winter League
Meadowfield moved up to share the second place in the Second Division with Newhouse after they only dropped one point to the visiting Stanley Central, who are in a dangerous relegation spot. Ian Hodgson, Stephen Hughes, Malcolm Hughes and Craig Hughes took the first four points for Meadowfield but Bob Oxley saved the whitewash when he beat Norman Smith.
Crowtrees A look certain to be promoted as they lead by ten points, whilst Willington are just a point behind the joint second teams.
In their other re-arranged match Stanley Central slipped further behind in the survival race when they lost in the decider at home to Ferryhill. Jim Dufton and Harry grimes won for the Central but Glynn Toas and Neil Spender levelled. In the decider Ferryhill's Karl Wood beat Bob Oxley. Worse was to come for both teams when they were both were deducted three points for failing to fulfil a fixture without just cause. This leaves Stanley two points below Wheatley Hill B, who are one point behind Langley Park.
Another Second Division relegation battle saw Langley Park win in the decider at Wheatley Hill B. Peter Taylor and Tony Ellison won for the Hill with Stephen Coates and Peter Morgan levelling. In the decider the visiting Kevin keers beat Ken Johnson.
In the First Division Fishburn A moved up to share third place with Wingate after they only dropped one point at Bearpark A, who had Glen Morton as their only winner. The visitors' points came from Tommy Carter, Charlie Hirst, Peter Davison and Brian Quest.
Hunwick B slipped out of a promotion place when they lost by the odd point at Tow Law A. The Lawyers had wins from Heppell Hodgson, Alan Spence and Tommy Williams with Tom Ward and David Penman replying.
Hunwick A moved up to share second place with Leeholme A in the Third Division when they only dropped one point to the visiting Tow Law B, who had Charlie Donaghy as their only winner. Ian Richardson, Steven Webb, Neville Blenkinsopp and Peter Mernor took the points for the home side.
Fishburn B only dropped one point to the visiting Bearpark B, who had Peter Wilson as their only winner. The home points came from Steve Robson, Winston Hodgson, Dave Thomas and Michael Bell.
The only match remaining to be re-arranged is Newton Aycliffe v Wingate. Teams are reminded that nominations for Chairman should be sent in for action at the next meeting at Meadowfield Club on Thursday, April 29.

Semi-final draw: Mark Appleby (Sacriston) v Steve Armstrong (Crowtrees) at Langley Park on Thursday, April 22 with the referee Alan Greener of Sherburn Village and John Bower (Sherburn Village) v Dave Walker (Wheatley Hill) at Crowtrees on Wednesday, 28 April with the referee Dennis Payne of Coundon.
* The Final will be played on either Wednesday, May 6 or Thursday, May 7 at a venue to be decided.
