Stockton Under-12s sealed promotion to the first division with a resounding 8-0 victory over Darlington Mount Pleasant who had previously dumped them out of the cup.
They went into the break 3-0 up but Mt. Pleasant were unlucky not to have scored three themselves as a combination of excellent goalkeeping by Joe Andrew and poor finishing gave the visitors a comfortable margin.
In the second half Stockton gave a better performance with stronger tackling and positive finishing. Karl Sharp was always a problem to the home defence and unfortunate not to get a reward for his efforts. His striking partner JJ Tucker got a hat-trick - his third goal an unstoppable strike from 20 yards. Substitute Kieran Basnett scored within a minute and took a second with a great shot across the keeper.
Mount Pleasant played balls over the top and nearly got a consolation but the shot was put over the bar. Goals from Hal White, Adam Maplesden and Harley Gibb completed the scoring. Stockton entertain Mt. Pleasant next week and need to be prepared for a backlash.
Richmond Town
Leven threatened to overrun Richmond Under-14s after taking an early lead, however Richmond came more into the game as half time approached. In the second half Leven almost immediately doubled their lead, however it was Richmond who scored next after Gareth Love sent Sam Pritchard clear, Sam kept his composure to slip the ball passed the advancing keeper.
With ten minutes left Leven took the lead following some hesitancy in the Richmond defence, however Sam Pritchard levelled the scores almost immediately. With no further scoring the game went into extra time. The first half was uneventful, however in the second both teams had reason to be disappointed with the referee. First Richmond were denied what looked like a penalty, then in the last minute Leven had a goal disallowed. In the penalty shoot out Richmond scored all five penalties with Leven hitting the post with their third penalty. Successful penalty takers for Richmond were Gareth Love, Tom Keegan, Sam Pritchard, Adam Hillary and Tom Stanwix.
Norton and
Stockton Ancients
Norton Under-13 B began in lively fashion against North Ormesby. Jamma Cronesberry worked hard to set up Adam Gell in the box, slipping it to Cooky who shot home from close range. Good Doggy pressure followed and they had a lot of possession, playing the best football for much of the half, and they created one good opportunity which Josh Edon palmed across the goal and off the crossbar. Norton against the run of play nearly doubled their lead when Cronesberry's through ball set Cook away again, he shot across the 'keeper but wide of the mark. The introduction of Liam Hardman, who put in a great performance, changed Norton's style and in the second half they were the better team. Gell's through ball looked to be too strong but 'keeper & defender were unsure and Cook's pace earned him a predatory second. The third was perfectly set up by Cronesberry with a great left wing run & cross, Cook finishing from six yards. Doggy danger man Leyshon was well marshalled by Steve Atkinson who read the game superbly and kept him very quiet, whilst Iveson turned in another strong display at the back next to Botwright. Norton's left came alive when Azza Stott made his trademark runs from deep, whilst 'keeper Edon's performance was perfect in every respect. Norton added a late fourth when Cook's persistence was rewarded as he kept the ball in and finished well when the chance looked to have gone.
Norton Under-15 B started off very well against Kiora bossing the game right from the start. The early goal came from man of the match Marti Woodhouse. After some good football from both sides, Marti Woodhouse grabbed his second with some good interplay between himself and Danny Wray. The third goal, and Mart's hat-trick, was the goal of the game with an over head kick into the top corner leaving Kiora's keeper no chance. Kiora then pulled one back with some sloppy defending by Norton. Kiora were then awarded a penalty which was saved by Norton's keeper, Chris Atkinson. In the second half, Norton were slow to react to a threw ball by Kiora to make it 2-3, but late on, Marti Woodhouse popped up to score his and Norton's fourth. This was a very good entertaining game played in good spirits.
In a hard fought Under-10 B match, the result was a little exaggerated in Leven s favour. Aiden Cattermole went close early for Norton but with their only two shots of the half, Leven went two up. Jack Grifiths had no chance with both. Norton pushed forward with Lewis Wing driving over and David Roth going close from a Liam Woodhouse corner. Tom Blakemore and Josh Peaden went forward from defence looking for a goal but Leven broke and added a third late on to make it 3 0.
Norton Under-10 B were well beaten by Cumby who were a more physical side. Lewis Wing scored direct from a corner and Jack Griffiths pulled off some good saves to keep the score a respectable 3-1 to Cumby.
