St Leonard's School in Durham have celebrated yet more rowing success. The Boys' and Girls' under-15 squads both won the gold medal and pink ribbon at the School's Head national event, held on the River Thames, writes Owen Amos.
"The teams were competing against teams from the real southern heart-lands of rowing, so to win is a fantastic achievement," said Martin Harris, a parent helper.
The squad, coached by Peter Graham, enjoyed more success in the senior events. The male under-18s won the silver in their six kilometre event, and the senior females came an honourable 20th.
For the under-18 squad, the good times may just be getting started. Four of the team are in the final stages for a call-up to the Great Britain squad.
