Six Quakers travelled to Coniston on Saturday, March 27 to compete in their annual 14-mile run around the lake.

On an excellent day for running Alasdair Tatham had a tremendous run around this undulating course to finish third out of 1477 competitors in a time of 1:18:09. Ian Scott followed as usual to claim first over 50 prize as well as 12th prize to finish in 1:22:33. Next home was Dawn Richardson who was 2nd lady and 69th overall to finish in 1:29:55, Graham Park, 773rd, 1:56:58 and Richard Payne, 1137th, 2:12:19.

The first of the Durham Dales Fell Series will be held on Sunday, 18 April at Hamsterley Forest. Further details of Doctor's Gate will be issued soon.

This year's annual presentation night will be held on Saturday, July 17 at Mowden Rugby club. More details to follow shortly.

Newton Aycliffe

Oat Lock Park Redcar, Newton Aycliffe Under-17s rounded off the winter season in style by winning the North Yorkshire and South Durham road relay championship for the second year running. Completing a treble for the season having won the cross country relays back in october and the league championships last week. In the three man team, each man running a leg of two miles which consisted of two laps, Adam Gibson lead the team off on the first leg and stormed through the first mile in five minutes, to build a lead over Richmond Harriers, eventually clocking 10mins 36 secs for the 2 miles a 28secs improvement on last year.

Lewis Moses, on leg two, increased the lead with the fastest time of the day in 10mins. Neil Robinson, in his first race back after being injured, brought the team home in 11 mins 20 secs to seal victory for the club.
