YOUNG swimmers from Mowden Junior School were overall winners in a competition between Darlington schools held at the town's Dolphin Centre.
Runners-up in the large schools' junior swimming gala were Abbey Junior School and Raventhorpe Preparatory School.
Schools taking part were Raventhorpe Preparatory School, Heighington CE Primary School, Middleton St George Primary School, Hurworth Primary School, St Teresa's RC Primary School, Heathfield Primary School, North Road Primary School, Mowden Junior School, Harrowgate Hill Junior School, Whinfield Junior School and Abbey Junior School.

Overall winners: Mowden; runners-up Abbey, Raventhorpe.
Girls winners: 1 Raventhorpe, 2 Hurworth, 3 Mowden.
Boys: 1 Mowden, 2 Abbey, 3 Heighington.
Girls freestyle: 1 Abbey, 2 Middleton St George, 3 Raventhorpe.
Boys freestyle: 1 Whinfield, 2 Hurworth, 3 Abbey.
Girls backstroke: 1 Raventhorpe, 2 Hurworth, 3 Whinfield.
Boys backstroke: 1 Heighington, 2 Whinfield, 3 Mowden.
Girls breaststroke: 1 Raventhorpe, 2 Whinfield, 3 Abbey.
Boys breaststroke: 1 Mowden, 2 Harrowgate Hill, 3 Heighington.
Girls open freestyle: 1 Hurworth, 2 Mowden, 3 Raventhorpe.
