Students from Hartlepool are to act as tourist guides when they host students from Sheffield.
The visit, in September, will enable students on the leisure and tourism course at Hartlepool College of Further Education to show their visitors what the town has to offer.
They will take them to attractions including the Headland, The Historic Quay and Summerhill.
Jane Steel, curriculum manager for the department of E-Business and Leisure said: "We received an inquiry from Sheffield College who are interested in seeing if all the good things they have heard about Hartlepool are true. We decided there would not be anyone better to guide them than our students who live and study tourism in the town."
In preparation, students have been on a Discover Hartlepool Tour arranged by the council and delivered by Blue Badge Guide Jan Williams.
Marie Crowe, tourism liaison officer at the college, said: "I hope the development of the tours will aid attendees to gain a qualification and be able to sell the town through improved product knowledge."
