ADVICE has been issued for Sunderland fans following their team to tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final.
The Black Cats face Millwall in the weekend's second semi-final, on neutral territory at the home of Manchester United.
About 31,500 Sunderland supporters are expected to cross the Pennines, most heading by coach and car on the M62.
The Football Association has issued travel advice for the approach to Old Trafford, based on information recommended by Greater Manchester Police.
Incoming traffic is advised to join the M60, from the M62, travelling in anti-clockwise on the Manchester ring road.
Following signs to the Trafford Centre, motorists should leave the M60 at junction nine, turning left on to the A5081 Park Way.
At the first roundabout on Park Way, they should take the third exit and join Village Way, and, at the next island, take the fourth exit to join Europa Way.
From Europa Way, drivers are advised to take the first left into John Gilbert Way and parking facilities are available on the right. Greater Manchester's traffic police may intercept some coaches as they approach the ground to direct drivers to alternative route to relieve congestion.
Fans travelling by train are advised to book in advance for TransPennine services bound for Manchester Picadilly station, several of which require a change at York.
