A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a missing teenager.
John Chipp, 18, disappeared during a night out in Sunderland two weeks ago.
His failure to return to the family home in Sheppard Terrace, Castletown, sparked a search of the River Wear, over fears that he fell in following an incident on the Queen Alexandra Bridge.
Christopher Weldon, 28, of Parkhurst Road, Pennywell, appeared before Houghton-le-Spring magistrates yesterday charged with his murder.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday.
