BLACK Cats fans were dreaming of FA Cup glory yesterday when they were given the chance to lift the trophy.
It was on display at The Bridges, in Sunderland, as the team prepared for tomorrow's semi-final showdown with Millwall.
Visitors got a free, instant photograph of themselves lifting the cup, recreating scenes not seen in Sunderland since 1973.
Eddie May, Umbro's UK marketing manager said: "The FA Cup is all about the chance for teams to revel in the glory of the occasion and ultimately get their hands on the famous silverware.
"As an FA Cup Partner, we're giving the fans that chance too, meaning anyone can lift one of the most famous trophies in the world."
The cup was at the shopping centre's Sport World during the afternoon but had spent the morning at the city's Thornhill School.
Pupils from Barnes Primary, Diamond Hall, Hudson Road, Richard Avenue and Barbara Priestman also attended.
Children heard all about the history of the tournament and had their picture taken with the cup.
Headteacher John Hallworth: "It was excellent to have the FA Cup in school and our children were thrilled to have their hands on it.
"Obviously there is a lot of excitement in the city.
"It is a fantastic momento of the time and it is great to think of all the talented footballers who have held it in the past."
