A NORTH-EAST company has been honoured for its work to upgrade a water treatment plant.
Teesside company Binnie Ferguson McIlveen received a commendation in the construction category of the Robert Stephenson Awards.
It is presented annually by the Institute of Civil Engineers for design and construction.
The Middlesbrough-based company was recognised for its work on improving Northumbrian Water's Broken Scar plant, on the outskirts of Darlington.
Project director Steve Metcalfe said: "We are very proud to receive this recognition for a project which makes a significant but unsung contribution to our daily lives.
"Water is often taken for granted, and the team have been very conscious of the need to avoid any disruption to the public water supply."
