ORGANISERS of the annual Whit carnival in Richmond are hoping a cash prize will tempt more entries.
The Richmond Meet programme has recovered since the foot-and-mouth crisis in 2001 - except for the number of floats taking part in the Bank Holiday Monday procession.
This year, £1,000 will go to the best float, with more prizes on offer in ten categories, including one for pub floats.
Organiser Paul Hadden said: "It's not easy, but building a float can be half the fun. There's no theme; just build something better than anyone else and you will win the top prize."
There is also a section for fancy dress, so individual entries are being welcomed.
